James Gist (born October 26, 1986 in Adana , Turkey ) is an American basketball player .
Career
After Gist played for the University of Maryland between 2004 and 2008 , he was selected in the 2008 NBA Draft 57th by the San Antonio Spurs . After moving to Italy in 2008 , Gist played for various European clubs in a row. In 2011 he had his most successful season when he won the Adriatic League with Partizan Belgrade in addition to the national championship and the club cup . In December 2012, Gist moved from Málaga to Panathinaikos Athens in exchange with Andrew Panko . After the 2015 Greek Cup final, he passed a positive doping test and was banned for eight months.

In 2007, Gist took part with the United States national team at the 2007 Pan American Games in Brazil , where he finished fifth.
