James Lyons (film editor)

James Lyons (born October 8, 1960 - April 12, 2007 in New York City ) was an American film editor and actor .

Life

Lyons made his debut as an actor and film editor in 1991 with the science fiction drama Poison . The production also marked his first collaboration with director Todd Haynes , which was followed by other joint projects. Most recently, both of them worked together on the drama Dem Himmel so Fern (2002). Lyons was responsible for editing 18 productions until his death . As an actor he was seen in seven films up to and including 2001, including Postcards from America (1994), Frisk (1995) and I Shot Andy Warhol (1996). He was also involved in the development of the script for the independent film Velvet Goldmine (1998).

Lyons, according to one of his four brothers, died of cancer that resulted from years of treatment for HIV infection.
