James Wong

James Richard Wong Yin Song (also: James Wong , * 1960 ) is a Mauritian - Seychellois clergyman. He is the Anglican Archbishop and Primate of the Anglican Church of the Province of the Indian Ocean , and the fourth Bishop of the Diocese of Seychelles .

Career

Wong has Asian roots. He was ordained an Anglican priest in 1983 . Then Wong was Archdeacon of Mauritius and Rector of the parish of St. Thomas in Beau Bassin . He was elected the fourth bishop of the Diocese of the Seychelles in 2009 and received citizenship of the Seychelles on May 11, 2017. On the occasion of the Provincial Synod on August 26, 2017, he was elected Archbishop of the Province of the Indian Ocean . The synod was held at St. Andrew's Church in Quatre-Bornes , Mauritius, and Wong took office the following day.

Wong is a supporter of the Anglican realignment . He took part in the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON III, Jerusalem Declaration ) in Jerusalem (June 17-22, 2018).
