Jan Tschichold Prize
The Jan Tschichold Prize is an award from the Federal Department of Home Affairs ( Switzerland ) for all aspects of book design . The prize has been awarded annually since 1997 by the Federal Office of Culture during the vernissage of the exhibition The Most Beautiful Swiss Books to a person or institution who has made a contribution to the craft of book production and design.
The prize is endowed with a minimum of CHF 10,000 and a maximum of CHF 15,000 and is named after the famous graphic artist and type designer Jan Tschichold .
Award winners
Since the annual figures for the award refer to the year in which it was presented, the jury from the previous year always decides on the current award winner. The jury for The Most Beautiful Swiss Books 2006 is synonymous with the jury for the Jan Tschichold Prize 2007 .
