Ludovic Balland (* 1973 in Geneva ) is a Swiss graphic designer .

Life

Balland studied visual communication at the Basel School of Design between 1996 and 2000 . At the same time, he mainly worked as a freelancer for various design offices such as Dalton & Maag in London or Müller + Hess , with whose collaboration he created the new design for the magazine Das Magazin . In 2002 he founded The Remingtons with Jonas Voegeli . Since 2003 he has been teaching typography and art direction in the master’s program as well as graphic design in the bachelor’s program at the École cantonale d'art in Lausanne and founded the Ludovic Balland Typography Cabinet in 2004 . In 2008 he was visiting professor at the Bauhaus University in Weimar. Between 2008 and 2011 the new overall appearance of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw was created . In 2012, the new image of the city ​​theater of Basel was added. Balland also gives lectures and workshops at national and international design universities, such as the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles . In 2009 Balland played a leading role in the design of the Bremen magazine der Straße , which received several design awards . He is also a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale .

Balland lives and works in Basel .
