Jan Březina (born April 14, 1954 in Konice ) is a Czech member of the European Parliament , the ELS-ED in the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats for the KDU-ČSL ( Křesťanská a democická unie-Československá strana lidová ).

Life

In 1973 he graduated from high school and studied mining engineering at the Ostrava University of Mining until 1978 , after which he worked in the Ostrava Road Administration. After the Velvet Revolution he joined the Christian Democratic Union / Czechoslovak People's Party (KDU-ČSL) in 1990, was elected to the district executive committee in 1995 and to the executive committee in 2000. From 1995 to 1997 he was mayor of Uničov and from 1997 to 2000 chairman of the district administration in Olomouc . In 1998 he was involved in the preparation of strategy papers for the Czech Republic. From 2000 to 2004 he was captain of the Olomouc region .

Brezina is a member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy , as well as the delegation in the committees for parliamentary cooperation EU-Armenia, EU-Azerbaijan and EU-Georgia , and in the delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly .
