Jan Bresinski (born June 12, 1954 in Beuthen , Poland ) is a visual artist and art educator living in Germany .

Life and work

Born in a family of German descent in Upper Silesia , he first attended a technical high school in Beuthen, where he obtained his technical diploma. Since his talent for drawing came to light at this time, he decided to study art. From 1971 to 1975 he studied painting and graphics at the Graphics Faculty of the Cracow Art Academy . He passed his diploma in 1979 in Maciej Bieniasz's master class .

Due to the hopeless situation for artists in Poland at the time of the collapsing communism , the decision was made to move to Germany (1985), where part of his large family already lived. In Germany he first lived on the Lower Rhine (Neuss, Mönchengladbach, Krefeld). Since 1996 in Windeck and Eitorf in the Rhein-Sieg district .

Jan Bresinski works continuously as a visual artist. Since 1996 he has been working in his studio on the premises of the Schoeller factory in Eitorf. Over the years, on the site of the old factory, St. Mark's Square has become a cultural center where exhibitions and other events take place.

Jan Bresinski regularly exhibits his work at home and abroad. Through the art events he initiated and organized in the Rhein-Sieg district, he temporarily revived the region's cultural life. ("Art around the river" 1999 Herchen / Sieg, "SpielArt" 2002 Rheinbach). Jan Bresinski mainly deals with painting , which during the more than 40 years of artistic creation showed different characteristics, which alternated between abstract and realistic representation. The formal experiments and developments allowed a clear division of the work into work cycles ("Wall segments", "Continuum", "Land / Über / Gang", "Atlas der Errwege", "I am the space where I am", "the elementary green" ").

In 2017 he created a mural on the building of the Am Löhrtor grammar school in Siegen with the African artist Charles Bhebe as part of the "Siegen World Construction Site" .

Occasionally Jan Bresinski creates spatial objects, installations, electronically controlled objects that testify to the extensive inventive spirit. He continuously imparts his skills as a lecturer in painting courses, among others. in the art and exhibition hall in Bonn , at the private art academy "EigenArt" in Bad Heilbrunn and in his studio.
