Jan C. Schuhr

Jan C. Schuhr (* 1975 ) is a German law scholar and professor at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg .

Life

Schuhr studied law and mathematics at the University of Erlangen . There he passed his first state examination in law in 1999 and the preliminary examination in mathematics in 2000 . He then worked as a research assistant for Joachim Hruschka and Hans Kudlich in Erlangen. This was followed by a legal clerkship at the Nuremberg Higher Regional Court from October 2003 , which ended in 2005 with the second state examination. In the same year he received his doctorate from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. iur. He then worked as a research assistant, later as a temporary academic advisor at the chair of Kudlich, and as a lawyer in Erlangen. In July 2015 he completed his habilitation at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and received the Venia legendi for the subjects of criminal law, criminal procedural law, medical and business law, and legal philosophy.

In the 2015 summer semester and again in the 2016/17 winter semester, Schuhr held a chair at Heidelberg University . In the two semesters in between, he held a chair at the University of Augsburg . In the 2017 summer semester, he rejected an offer from the University of Passau and accepted a position from the University of Heidelberg, where Schuhr has held the chair for criminal law and criminal procedural law he had previously represented, with special emphasis on medical law, succeeding Thomas Hillenkamp .

Works (selection)

Schuhr's research focuses in particular on the constitutional principles of criminal law, property offenses and medical criminal law , as well as legal philosophy. He gained notoriety in particular through his criminal law comments in the Commentary on Medical Law published by Andreas Spickhoff .
