Wolfgang Wohlers

Wolfgang Wohlers (* 1962 in Hamburg ) is a German law scholar and professor at the University of Basel .

Life

Wohlers studied from 1983 jurisprudence at the University of Hamburg , where he graduated in 1988 with the First State Exam. He then worked in Hamburg as a research assistant for Gerhard Fezer . There he obtained his doctorate in 1992. iur. After his subsequent legal clerkship and the second state examination in Hamburg in 1994, Wohlers worked as a lawyer in Hamburg until 2000. In 1999 he completed his habilitation at the University of Basel and received the venia legendi for the subjects of criminal law and criminal procedure law.

After subsequent professorships at the University of Würzburg , the University of Rostock and the Technical University of Dresden , he held a professorship in Dresden from 2000. In February 2001 he moved to the University of Zurich . There he was dean of the law faculty from 2010 to 2012. In February 2015, Wohlers switched to the chair for criminal law and criminal procedure law at the University of Basel, which he has held since then.
