Jan Derek Sørensen (born December 28, 1971 in Oslo ) is a former Norwegian football player .

Club career

Sørensen played in his youth at FK Bodø / Glimt and Lyn Oslo , for whom he made his debut in the Tippeligaen . In the summer of 1994 he returned to Bodø / Glimt. In 1998 he went to Rosenborg Trondheim , was Norwegian champion three times in a row, and in 1999 he won the national cup.

In January 2001 Sørensen moved to the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund . The transfer was preceded by a month-long dispute with TSV 1860 Munich . Sørensen had signed contracts with both clubs. The dispute was only settled after a transfer fee had been paid to Munich. In two years in Dortmund, the winger came to 24 Bundesliga games without scoring a goal. In the 2001/02 season he was with the team German champions. In the same season he also contributed to reaching the UEFA Cup final with a goal in the third-round second leg against FC Copenhagen . He was not used in the final itself.

In February 2003 Sørensen returned to Norway to Lyn Oslo, with whom he signed a three-year contract. In 2006 he moved to Vålerenga IF and played there until the end of 2007. In early 2008 he went back to FK Bodø / Glimt . At the end of 2009 he ended his career.

National team

Sørensen has played 21 times for the Norwegian national team since his debut against Slovenia on September 8, 1999 . He never took part in a major tournament. He was not called to the EM 2000 . He made his last international game on October 9, 2004 in the qualifier for the 2006 World Cup in a 1-0 win over Scotland.
