Jan Emendörfer

Jan Emendörfer (born August 1, 1963 in Halle (Saale) , GDR ) is a German journalist and author . He is editor-in-chief of the Leipziger Volkszeitung .

Life

Jan Emendörfer is the son of the German communist, resistance fighter against National Socialism and editor Max Emendörfer (1911–1974) and his wife Gertrud. Jan Emendörfer attended school in Bad Doberan and trained as a construction machine operator in Rostock . From 1982 to 1984 he did his military service in the National People's Army . He then became an employee and later a business editor for the newspaper Die Freiheit in Halle. At the Leipzig College of Journalism , he studied 1986-1989 in distance learning . In 1990 he worked as an editor for the Ostsee-Zeitung in Rostock. There he headed the business department and in 1997 took over the report department. In the same year he published his father's biography under the title Ostracized - My Father Max Emendörfer . The second edition was published in 2004.

In 1999 Emendörfer became a member of the chief editor of the Ostsee-Zeitung under Gerd Spilker . After he was replaced at the end of 2005, Emendörfer temporarily headed the editorial department until Manfred von Thien became editor-in-chief of the Ostsee-Zeitung on April 1, 2006. After von Thiens returned to Lübeck , Emendörfer succeeded him as editor-in-chief of the Ostsee-Zeitung on May 1, 2008. In April 2012 Emendörfer succeeded Bernd Hilders as editor-in-chief of the Leipziger Volkszeitung. Andreas Ebel was appointed his successor at the Ostsee-Zeitung .

Emendörfer is married and has three children.
