Bernd Hilder

Bernd Hilder (born April 9, 1959 in Bückeburg , Lower Saxony ) is a German journalist and media manager.

After graduating from the New Gymnasium Stadthagen in 1978 , he began to study law and political science in Freiburg , but broke off his studies and worked as a freelance journalist from 1982 and later as an editor at the Sender Freies Berlin (SFB). At the end of the 1980s he was an ARD radio correspondent in Washington , then he reported on Latin America and the Caribbean based in Mexico .

In 1995 he became editor-in-chief of the Schaumburger Nachrichten in Stadthagen , in 2000 for the Göttinger Tageblatt and in 2003 for the Leipziger Volkszeitung (all Madsack publishing company ). At the beginning of September 2011, Hilder was nominated by the administrative board of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) as a possible successor to the previous MDR director Udo Reiter , but failed in the election in the Broadcasting Council with 29 votes against and 41 voters. Instead, Carola Wille was elected MDR director.

His successor at the Leipziger Volkszeitung in Leipzig became Jan Emendörfer on April 1, 2012 .

Hilder was editor-in-chief of the Thüringische Landeszeitung in Weimar from September 2013 to January 2016 ; his successor was Nils Kawig in January 2016.

Bernd Hilder is married and has two children (son / daughter). He is non-party.
