Jan Lemański
Jan Lemański (born July 7, 1866 in Głażewo near Płock , † November 11, 1933 in Warsaw ) was a Polish writer , satirist and fabulous poet. He belonged to the circle of poets of the Młoda Polska ( Young Poland ).
Life
He was educated in the secondary school in Płock and then in the law faculty of the University of Warsaw . From 1894 he published small papers in Warsaw papers. In the years 1901-1907 he was editor of the literary magazine Chimera, in which he often published his works. His wife was the poet and literary critic Maria Komornicka (1876–1949).
During the period after the First World War he worked as an officer in the Ministry of the Interior, at the end of his life as a film censor. Then he withdrew from literary life and did not write any more papers. The years 1902–1905 are considered to be his most fertile and artistically best period, with the fantastic novella Ofiara królewny (Sacrifice of the Princess, 1906 ) as the climax.
