Jan Lustig (born December 23, 1902 in Brno , Moravia , † April 24, 1979 in Munich ) was a German-American screenwriter.

Life

Jan Lustig worked in Berlin as a journalist, especially as a film critic, and wrote short stories. After the National Socialists came to power, he emigrated to France, where he wrote his first scripts. In 1940, the invasion of German troops forced him to leave the United States. He quickly found a job at MGM and wrote the templates for commercially successful films.

“In 1959 Jan Lustig returned to Germany and settled in Munich. It was the loneliness after the death of his first wife that made him leave California. Otherwise he would probably never have said goodbye to the United States, because he was grateful to the country and its people. The extraordinary warmth and helpfulness of his American friends and, last but not least, the attractive landscape of California bound Jan Lustig to the country. “After his return he worked as a writer for the film for a few years.

In his first marriage, Jan Lustig was born with Charlotte Lustig. Weinberg (1897–1959) married. She is buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park (Glendale) .

Liesl Frank, who was married to Bruno Frank for the first time , was her third marriage in 1965 to Jan Lustig, with whom she lived in the Herzogpark in Munich- Bogenhausen .
