In 1551 Táborský was appointed by the Prague City Council to maintain and restore the clockwork of the town hall . Through the training and, as he himself said, "through continued efforts and consultations with some people in astronomy and mechanics," he had acquired the knowledge necessary for the repair and maintenance of the watch.

In old age he wrote a report "Spráwa o orloji Pražském" to the mayor and the city council, in which he describes the whole clock mechanism in detail. This manuscript, one of the most beautiful Czech manuscripts from the 16th century, was completed in 1570 and also contains a self-portrait of Táborský.
