Jan ten Brink

Jan ten Brink (born June 15, 1834 in Appingedam , † July 18, 1901 in Leiden ) was a Dutch writer.

He studied in Utrecht , received a prize in 1857 for his work "De aesthetische waarde van Brederôo's dramatic arbeid" , obtained a theological doctorate in 1860, then lived as an educator in Batavia , from where he undertook a journey through the island of Java (described in the work "Op de limit der Preanger" , Amsterdam 1861), and after his return in 1862 he was employed as a teacher of Dutch language and literature at the grammar school in The Hague. In 1872 he took over the editing of the fiction magazine "Nederland" . In 1859 he got a new version of the price publication mentioned; his other literary-historical works are:
