Jan van der Kaa
Jan van der Kaa (born November 1, 1813 in Dordrecht , † November 23, 1877 in Rotterdam ) was a Dutch painter and lithographer .
Life
Jan van der Kaa had the same name as his father. His mother was Pieternella Adriana de Mey. Jan van der Kaa was a student of Pieter Hofman and Johannes Christiaan Bendorp . For almost a year, from October 1, 1832 to September 16, 1833, he belonged to the Dordrecht painters' association "Pictura". From 1832 or 1833 he lived and worked in Rotterdam. In 1839 he traveled to Belgium and Germany . From 1840 he regularly took part in exhibitions in various Dutch cities. The Tsar of Russia presented the painter with a ring after he had made a large painting for him.
Works
Van der Kaas main motifs were interiors and landscapes. According to Thieme / Becker , no paintings by van der Kaas made it into public Dutch collections, but there are three lithographs by his hand in the Amsterdam Kupferstichkabinett , including one based on a landscape by Jan Both from the Boymans Museum in Rotterdam and two based on interiors by George Gillis Haanen and aria Johannes Lamme .
