Jan von Holleben (* 1977 ) is a German photographer .

Life

He started taking photos when he was 13. After studying special education at the University of Education Freiburg , he moved to London over. He graduated from the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in Farnham in 2002 with a degree in Theory and History of Photography . In the London photography scene he worked as a photo editor and art director and founded two photographer groups: Young Photographers United and photodebut . The playful “ homo ludens ”, an idea that he associates with experiences from his childhood, provides an essential basis for his photography . He became known through the photo series Dreams of Flying .

Von Holleben published his works a. a. in magazines such as ZEITMagazin , Der Spiegel , Dein Spiegel , Die Zeit , Neon Magazin , Dazed and Confused , Geo as well as original books from Little Steidl Verlag, Thienemann-Esslinger Verlag , Beltz Verlag , Carlsen Verlag and Thames & Hudson Publishers. He gave guest lectures at the University of Applied Arts Vienna in Vienna, at the New School of Photography in Berlin, at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in Farnham, Great Britain, at the Ostkreuzschule in Berlin, at the Prague School of Photography in Kefermarkt, and in- house of the cultures of the world (HKW) in Berlin.
