Janina Korowicka

Janina Urszula Korowicka , today Friesinger , (born April 14, 1954 in Syców ) is a former Polish speed skater and later a long-time speed skating trainer in Germany.

She began speed skating in the sixth year of school in the club Echa Twardogóra . Other clubs were MKS Cuprum Lubin and Olimpia Elbląg . Under the coach Adam Kaźmierczyk , she became the main competitor of Erwina (Lilka) Ryś-Ferens . 1973 Janina Korowicka started at the all-around world championships in Assen . There she met the German starter Georg Friesinger , her future husband. First Korowicka continued her career and also started over three routes at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck . Her best result was a 16th place on the 3,000 meter course. In 1975 and 1976 she was three-time Polish runner-up in the 1,500 m, 3,000 m and 1,000 m, and in 1976 she was Polish champion in the 1,500-meter course. Twice, in 1975 and 1976, she took part in world championships and achieved a 13th place in the all-around as the best place.

Korowicka ended her career when she became pregnant shortly after the 1976 Winter Games. Their first child, Anni Friesinger , was born on January 11, 1977 . Jan Friesinger followed in 1980 and Agnes Friesinger in 1984 . All three children of the couple, who then lived in Bad Reichenhall , have become professional speed skaters. Janina Friesinger was a trainer at DEC Frillensee in Inzell from the 1980s to 2004 . Her husband Georg died of an ischemic stroke in 1996 .
