Janusz Grabiański

Janusz Grabiański (born July 27, 1929 in Szamotuły , Poland , † October 20, 1976 in Warsaw ) was a Polish illustrator and graphic artist who was best known for his contributions to children's books .

Janusz Grabiański created artistic works such as drawings and colored, mostly full-page watercolor paintings. From 1958 until his death he illustrated for the Austrian publishing house Ueberreuter , and in the 1970s he designed advertising posters for the Polish airline LOT . The "lion's head", the well-known Kastner & Öhler logo (from 1973 to 1991) also goes back to his collaboration ( Grabianski and Jablonski ).

His illustrations of works by German and international authors such as Josef Guggenmos , Käthe Recheis , Bruno Horst Bull , Charles Perrault , Hans Christian Andersen , Mark Twain and Enid Blyton as well as illustrations of fairy tales by Wilhelm Hauff and the Brothers Grimm and the stories from 1001 are internationally known Night. Figures such as dogs, cats and birds have always been the focus of his work.

Grabiański is particularly well known in Germany among educational representatives of children's and youth literature (kindergartens, elementary schools, etc.). He has received several Polish and international awards for his artistic work.
