Jardim Farol
The Jardim Farol ( German lighthouse garden ) is a park in the East Timorese capital Dili . It is located in the Aitarak district ( Suco Motael ), northwest of the center, near the Motael lighthouse. To the north lies the Avenida de Portugal between the park and the coast of the Bay of Dili , to the east the Rua dos Direitos Humanos, to the south the Travessa Sérgio Vieira de Mello and to the west the Rua de Palapaço and the Maloa river .
The Canto Resende Memorial, erected in the park in 1952, commemorates the Portuguese Artur do Canto Resende , who died in a Japanese internment camp in 1944 .
National, traditional-religious ceremonies were carried out several times in the Jardim Farol. In 2006, a ceremony was held to return holy weapons that had been brought from traditional relic houses ( tetum Uma Lulik ) during the Indonesian occupation (1975–1999) . In 2019, an Ai To'os was set up here to protect the country.
