Jared Scott Carter Jeffries (born November 25, 1981 in Bloomington , Indiana ) is a retired American basketball player .

NBA

Jeffries was drawn 11th by the Washington Wizards in the 2002 NBA Draft . Due to a serious injury, however, he only played 20 games in his first year. From his sophomore year Jeffries started regularly for the Wizards. However, he could not meet expectations in the four years for the Wizards and moved to the New York Knicks in the summer of 2006 . After three years with the Knicks, Jeffries was sold to the Houston Rockets as part of the Tracy McGrady transfer . On February 25, the Rockets bought him out of the contract, whereupon he re-signed with the New York Knicks a few days later.

On July 16, 2012, he was transferred from the Knicks to the Portland Trail Blazers . For this he only played a year before he was released.

After his NBA career, Jeffries became a scout for the Denver Nuggets .
