Jaroslav Balcar (born March 27, 1953 in Vrchlabí ; † April 4, 2015 ) was a Czechoslovakian ski jumper .

Career

Balcar, whose older brother Jindřich Balcar was also active as a ski jumper, made his international debut at the Four Hills Tournament in 1975/76 . After a 33rd place in Oberstdorf and a 40th place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , he jumped to 23rd place in Innsbruck . After a disappointing 60th place in Bischofshofen , he ended up in 39th place in the tour's overall ranking.

At the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, he started in both individual disciplines. Surprisingly, he jumped from the normal hill to fourth and missed the medal ranks by just one place. On the large hill he was in 14th place in the end.

After the good results at the games, Balcar started at the Four Hills Tournament in 1976/77 . During the tour, however, apart from a 15th place in Bischofshofen, he did not manage to jump into the top 20. In the end he reached rank 30 with 742.2 points. It was his last tour.
