Yaroslav Melnyk

Jaroslaw Hryhorowytsch Melnyk ( Ukrainian Ярослав Григорович Мельник ; born June 1960 in Ivano-Frankivsk ) is a Ukrainian philologist , linguist , Slavist . In November 2014 he was awarded the title of professor at the National Wassyl-Stefanyk University of the Subcarpathian , Institute for General and German Linguistics. He also received the Pushkin Medal from the President of the Russian Federation in 2014 for a major contribution to strengthening cooperation with Russia and developing scientific and cultural relations.

biography

Melnyk completed an artist-designer degree, studied polytechnics in Kharkiv and continued studying at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. In 1986 he graduated from the Philosophical Faculty of the Ivano-Frankivsk Pedagogical Institute . In 1994 he completed the post graduate early, and successfully defended his dissertation . In his academic career he completed internships at the University of Łódź (Poland), the Maria Curie Skłodowska University (Poland), the Jagiellonian University (Poland), as well as the Lomonossow University in Moscow , the State University of St. Petersburg and the State University Yaroslavl University (Russia).

He often appears as an examiner of dissertations as well as in specialist boards of various universities, member of various educational, cultural and scientific commissions and co-organizer of the International Science Conference on the semantics of language and text . Jaroslaw Melnyk is the author of more than 200 publications (including more than 5 monographs, 30 textbooks and handbooks for students) on the problems of linguistics , philosophy of language , semiotics and culturology . His dissertation is devoted, among other things, to modern problems in linguistics, micro and macro system levels in language, linguoculturology, semiology , linguoanthropological philosophy and neorhetorics. Among other things, he founded the discussion student club Dialogue . From 1988, for 28 years, he organized the work of student volunteers, including collecting local folklore, dialect words and expressions in the Mikhailovskoe Pushkin Reserve. Reports on the practice and the materials developed were given to the museum reserve annually.

In 2012 he organized a photo exhibition My Ukraine in the Pushkin State Museum Reservation in Mikhailovskoe . Jaroslaw Melnyk is a frequent guest on Olena Tretyak's TV program European Vector on Vezha TV. He also co-hosted the popular science program The Universe Around Us .

Awards

For scientific, educational and cultural achievements, he received the diploma of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (2008), the medal and the honorary award for Excellence in Education from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (2010), the medal and the All-Russian Prize Guardians of the Heritage (2012), Pushkin Medal (2014).
