Jasmi Joensuu (born May 7, 1996 ) is a Finnish cross-country skier .

Career

Joensuu, who competes for the Vantaan Hiihtoseura , first appeared internationally in February 2013 at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Predeal . There she finished 29th over 7.5 km freestyle, 15th place in sprint and 11th place over 5 km classic. In the same month in Keuruu and the following year in Lahti , she became the Finnish junior champion in the 15 km mass start race. She completed her first race in the Scandinavian Cup in December 2013 in Vuokatti , which she finished classically in 26th place over 10 km. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2014 in Val di Fiemme , she came 32nd in the skiathlon , 27th in the sprint and sixth in the relay. At the beginning of March 2014 she made her debut in Lahti in the World Cup and finished 69th in the sprint. Her best placings at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2015 in Almaty were 27th place over 5 km freestyle and ninth place with the relay. In January 2018 she reached her first podium in the Continental Cup with second places in the sprint at the US Super Tour in Anchorage . At the U23 World Championships in Lahti in 2019 , she finished 30th in the 15 km mass start race and 26th place in the sprint. At the end of February 2020, she got her first World Cup points in Lahti with the 27th place over 10 km classic.
