Jason Barry (born February 13, 1975 in Dublin , Ireland ) is a retired Irish darts player . His nickname was "Jacko" and his theme song was Back in Black by AC / DC .

Career

Barry celebrated his first success when he qualified for the World Grand Prix 2007 after he had prevailed in a 549 darts player-wide qualifying tournament. In the first round of the World Grand Prix 2007 he met the then number 16 in the world Andy Jenkins , against whom he lost just 1: 2 sets.

After the World Grand Prix, Barry also qualified for the PDC World Darts Championship 2008 . In the international preliminary round, he was able to defeat the Scot Jamie Harvey with 5: 3 legs, before he lost in the first round to his compatriot Mick McGowan with 0: 3 sets.

Another success was celebrated at the UK Open 2008 . In his first game he defeated Adrian Welsh 6: 5 and was also able to win 9: 2 against Alan Cayse in the third round . In the fourth round he then lost against the first seeded Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld 7: 9, although he was able to turn a 1: 5 deficit to a 6: 6 draw.

Barry made a good appearance at the 2008 World Grand Prix , making him the first Irishman to compete in two consecutive World Grand Prix events. After a 2-1 win against the Northern Irishman Brendan Dolan , he lost 3-0 to the Canadian world champion John Part . He was also able to win the qualifying tournament for the European Darts Championship 2008 , but then lost to number one in the world Phil Taylor with 1: 6 legs in the first round .

Barry played his last major tournament at the 2009 World Grand Prix . In the first round he defeated Mick McGowan 2-0 and in the second round he defeated Steve Beaton 3-2. In the quarterfinals he played again against Raymond van Barneveld , but lost again, this time 4-0. Following this tournament, Barry ended his career with the PDC.
