Jason Batty (born March 23, 1971 in Auckland ) is a former New Zealand goalkeeper and current goalkeeper coach of the US professional club San José Earthquakes . He was also active for the New Zealand national soccer team .

Career

As a youth player, Batty was a member of the Norwich City team from England until 1989 . In 1997 he played in the American professional league with the Albuquerque Geckos, in 1998 he moved to Ireland to Bohemians Dublin , for whom he played four times until the end of 1998. In January 1999 he moved to Singapore for Geylang United , for whom he played until the end of the year. Then Batty signed a contract with Auckland Football Kingz in his home country. In 2000 he returned to England and played at Grimsby Town for four months, in February 2001 he went to Scunthorpe United , in July of the same year his last position in England followed with Stalybridge Celtic . From 2002 to 2005 he was still between the posts of New Zealand club Caversham AFC before ending his career.

Batty completed 47 games for the New Zealand national team. In 1998 and 2002 he won the OFC Nations Cup , in 2000 he was also in the final of the competition. He also took part in the Confederations Cup competitions in 1999 and 2003.

After his retirement, Batty began his coaching career as a goalkeeping coach at Dartmouth College in the USA and at Texas Premier SC. He is currently the goalkeeping coach of the San José Earthquakes in the US first division.
