The oriental longhair cat (OLH) is one of the oriental cat breeds and is also known under the name Javanese or Mandarin. The name Javanese has very little to do with the island of Java .

history

When American breeders set out to breed a half-haired Siamese cat, their goal was the Balinese breed . As a by-product, an oriental semi-longhair cat was created, the oriental longhair. In 1979 the CFA was the only organization to recognize the Javanese as a separate breed. Other organizations see the animals as a variant of the Balinese.

Appearance features

The difference to the Balinese lies in the colors of the fur and the eyes. The oriental long-haired do not have so-called mask coloring (points), but are full-colored and thus the semi-long-haired counterpart of the oriental shorthair . Their eyes are green, except for white fur where they tend to be blue.

character

Oriental longhair like all Orientals are very people-oriented and sometimes very affectionate. Once you have found someone you can relate to, you won't give it back anytime soon. Her wiry physique underlines her joy of movement. The sensitive cats are very playful and like to express their emotional state often with their melodious voice. Oriental longhairs reach sexual maturity at a few months and are devoted mothers.
