history

The beginnings of the RagaMuffin breed go back to the early 1960s, when Ann Baker in California was particularly concerned with the "development" of various new cat breeds. These cats were so sweet and affectionate that she referred to this group as “cherubim” (angels). This is how many cat breeds emerged, of which the Ragdolls, the Miracle Ragdolls and the Honeybears have survived to this day. In the early 1970s, a first group broke up with Ann Baker and registered their cats with major cat breeding associations. They are known today as the "modern ragdolls".

Another group separated from Ann Baker in 1994 and, in accordance with the terms of the contract at the time, they gave their cats a different name: RagaMuffin

Today the RagaMuffins are recognized by the following organizations:

  • AACE (American Association of Cat Enthusiasts)
  • ACFA (American Cat Fanciers Association)
  • CFA (The Cat Fanciers' Association - Provisional Status)
  • CFF (Cat Fancier's Federation)
  • ICE (International Cats Exhibitors)
  • UFO (United Feline Organization)

The RagaMuffin has been grown in Europe since 2002 and is recognized by the following clubs:
