career

Cortés began his career at his hometown club UNAM Pumas , where he also received his first professional contract in the summer of 2007 . Cortés made his debut in the top Mexican division in the 3-1 home win against CF Pachuca on August 24, 2008. However, he only made his permanent jump to the first team of the Pumas later and so he often played for the between 2007 and 2010 Farm team Pumas Morelos playing in the second division .

Since the Apertura 2010 , Cortés has been part of the first team with which he won the Mexican football championship in the Clausura 2011 ( second half of the same season).

National team

With the U-23 national team , Cortés won the 2012 Olympic football tournament , something that no Mexican Olympic selection had achieved before .

Cortés made his debut for the senior team in a friendly against Venezuela on January 25, 2012 , which was won 3-1. Cortés completed his second and so far last international match on April 17, 2013 in a friendly against Peru , which ended goalless. Cortés was also part of the Mexican squad at the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2013 , in which he was not used.
