geography

The mountain of Tazka n'Zat is located in the north of the province of Ouarzazate in the Drâa-Tafilalet region . It lies in the main ridge line of the High Atlas and as part of the Moroccan main watershed on the eastern edge of the Toubkal massif and the Toubkal National Park . The Ourika Valley with the town of Setti Fatma is only about 10 km (as the crow flies) north. The Oued Zat rises on the northern flank of the Jbel Tazka , but from late spring it often seeps into the Marrakech plain near Aït Ourir . The valley of the Assif n'Tidili begins on the western flank and feeds the Wadi Draa , the longest river in Morocco , below Ouarzazate .

Ascent

An ascent of the Jbel Taska n'Zat is possible as part of a two-day trekking tour from the northern village of Setti Fatma or from the southeastern village of Tidli .
