Jean-Baptiste Henri Deshays de Colleville , called Deshays or "le Romain" (born November 27, 1729 in Colleville near Rouen , † February 10, 1765 in Paris ) was a French history painter.
He began his painting apprenticeship in Rouen with his father, Jean-Dominique Deshays and continued it with Jean-Baptiste Descamps in his Ecole Gratuite de Dessin. In 1758 he became a member of the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture .
Deshays married the elder daughter of François Boucher . His younger brother, François Bruno Deshays de Colleville, became a portraitist.
