Georgia Stanway (born January 3, 1999 in Barrow-in-Furness , Cumbria ) is an English soccer player . The player is under contract with Manchester City WFC and has played for the England team since 2018 .

Career

societies

Stanway began her career with the Blackburn Rovers . In 2015 she moved to Manchester City WFC . After finishing second in the league, the Citizens achieved the double of championship and WSL league cup victory in 2016 . In the 2016/17 UEFA Women's Champions League she played a total of 52 minutes in three games and reached the semi-finals with her team, where after a 3-1 home defeat to defending champions Olympique Lyong, the 1-0 away win was not enough to make it into the final come.

She made her first appearance in the A-Elf on November 8, 2018 in a 3-0 away win against Austria. She was in the starting line-up and made it 2-0. Three days later she was substituted on in the home game against Sweden in the 73rd minute when the score was 2-0, but could not turn the game around.

This was followed by other short appearances in the SheBelieves Cup 2019 and the April test matches against Canada and Spain . On May 8th, she was nominated for the World Cup in France as the youngest player in the squad. At the World Cup, she was used in the three group matches, in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, and was substituted on four times in the final quarter of an hour. Only in the group final against Japan , in which she gave the template to 1-0 by Ellen White in the 14th minute , she was in the starting line-up, but was replaced after 74 minutes.
