Jean-Baptiste Faure
Jean-Baptiste Faure (* 15. January 1830 in Moulins ; † 9. November 1914 in Paris ) was a French opera singer of the vocal range baritone , singing teacher and composer of songs .
Life
As a choirboy he sang at La Madeleine in Paris. He was trained as a singer as a student of Trévaux at the Paris Conservatory . He made his debut in 1852 at the Opéra-Comique in Paris as "Pygmalion" in the opera Galathée by Victor Massé . He stayed there until 1860 and was then a member of the Paris Opera Association from 1861 to 1876 .
Faure taught at the Paris Conservatory from 1857 to 1860. He wrote two books on singing : La Voix et le Chant (1886) and Aux Jeunes Chanteurs (1898). He also composed songs that were released in two albums. The most famous songs are Crucifix and Les Rameaux .
