Jean-François Aubert (born May 11, 1931 in Peseux ) is a Swiss constitutional lawyer and politician ( LPS ).

Aubert studied at the University of Neuchâtel (1952 lic. Iur., 1955 Dr. iur. And admitted to the bar). From 1952 to 1956 he studied in Tübingen , Paris and Ann Arbor (USA).

From 1956 until his retirement in 1996 he was professor of constitutional law at the University of Neuchâtel, in 1967 he was also an associate professor at the University of Geneva , he was also visiting professor at the University of Lausanne (1959, 1964, 1968–1971).

He was a legal expert on several federal constitutional amendments - in the areas of spatial planning, environmental protection, water management, referendums on international treaties and referendum on the founding of the canton of Jura .

As a politician ( LPS , until 2005) he was the Neuchâtel Grand Council from 1961–73 , the National Council from 1971–79 and the Council of States from 1979–87 .
