Jean-Hervé Nicolas

Jean-Hervé Nicolas OP (baptized name: Hervé Marie Maurice Auguste ; born March 31, 1910 , Bizerta , Tunisia ; † July 26, 2001 , Toulouse , France ) was a Dominican priest and professor of dogmatics at the University of Freiburg in Freiburg im Üechtland , Switzerland . He was one of the most important representatives of neo-scholasticism in the second half of the 20th century.

Life

In 1928 he joined the Dominican Order and was ordained a priest in 1935. He was sent to study by the Dominican province of Toulouse. He then taught dogmatic theology at the University of Freiburg for more than 25 years (1955 / 56–1979 / 80). After that, he taught for seven years even in Trappist - Sept-Fons Abbey .
