Jean-Luc Gaget (born July 25, 1958 in Paris ) is a French actor , screenwriter , film editor and director .

Life

Gaget trained as an editor and attended acting courses in parallel. His first short film, Le perroquet des îles , for which he wrote the screenplay and directed, was released in 1982. Gaget won the audience award for the film in 1983 at the Festival du Court-Métrage de Clermont-Ferrand .

Gaget wrote radio games and plays before working as a screenwriter and editor for short and feature films in the 1980s, and occasionally as an actor and director. In 1985 he co-founded the production company Cinq et Cing Films (later Magouric ), with which he was involved as executive producer on Alain Beigel's Mille Bornes in 1999 .

Gaget worked several times with the directors Luc Pagès (including Forte est la tentation de Georges , 1989; Ada ne sait pas dire non , 1995; A + Pollux , 2002), Fabien Onteniente ( Bobby et l'aspirateur , 1989; Tom est tout seul , 1995) and Laurent Bénégui ( Hippolytes Fest , 1995; Mauvais genre , 1997) together. A particularly successful collaboration was established with the Icelandic- French director and screenwriter Sólveig Anspach . Their first collaboration was the Icelandic comedy Bin Just Back in 2008 , for which Gaget wrote the script with Anspach. It was the beginning of a trilogy set in France and Iceland about the characters Anna ( Didda Jónsdóttir ) and Agathe ( Florence Loiret Caille ), which was continued with Queen of Montreuil in 2012. When director Anspach died during the post-production phase of the third film The Effect of Water , for which Anspach and Gaget had written the script, Gaget completed the film as director. Gaget and Anspach were awarded the César for Best Original Screenplay in 2017 for The Effect of Water .
