Jean-Marie Pirot

Jean-Marie Pirot , better known as Arcabas (born March 21, 1926 in Metz , † August 23, 2018 in Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse ) was a French painter of Christian art .

Life

Jean-Marie Pirot studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris . Between 1950 and 1969 he was a professor at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Grenoble . He was then from 1969 to 1972 adjunct professor at the University of Ottawa , he was also the founder and director of the "l'atelier collectif expérimental". Back in France, Pirot founded the “Éloge de la Main” at the University of Social Sciences in Grenoble.

His sacred art in the church of Saint-Hugues-de-Chartreuse was the subject of a donation to the Isère department as part of the cultural heritage. The stained glass windows of the Église Notre-Dame des Neiges in L'Alpe d'Huez come from him.

Some works by Jean-Marie Pirot alias Arcabas can also be found in the Musée de Grenoble , the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris, the Pinakothek Internationale de Waterloo, the University of Ottawa , Cuernavaca (Mexico) and in private collections. From 1986, Jean-Marie Pirot lived and worked in Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse (Isère).
