Jean-Marie Sermier

Jean-Marie Sermier (born March 5, 1961 in Nozeroy ) is a French politician . He has been a member of the National Assembly since 2002 .

Sermier, whose parents were Swiss, obtained his Abitur in Dijon and then studied at an agricultural college in Byans-sur-Doubs . He was also trained as a firefighter at a military base in Luxeuil-les-Bains . From 1983 he worked for the Chamber of Agriculture of the Jura Department. Sermier, who had previously been committed to the Union pour la démocratie française , supported Raymond Barre's candidacy for president in 1988 , but it failed. In 1989 he was elected mayor of the municipality of Cramans , on whose municipal council he had been represented since 1981. In addition, he moved to the General Council of the Jura Department in 1992 , and was elected Vice-President in 2001. In the parliamentary elections in 2002 , he ran in the third constituency of the département for the newly founded UMP and was elected with around 54 percent of the vote. He was re-elected in 2007 and 2012.
