Jean-Michel Wilmotte
Jean-Michel Wilmotte (born April 2, 1948 in Soissons ) is a French designer , interior designer , architect and town planner .
Life
Jean-Michel Wilmotte graduated from the state-recognized Parisian private school École Nissim de Camondo (where, among other things, the designer Philippe Starck studied) with a degree in interior design. In 1975 he opened his own engineering office "Governor" in Paris. In 1993 he was registered with the Chamber of Architects . Today the office operates as Wilmotte et Associés SA d'Architecture . Wilmotte has been a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts since 2015, succeeding Michel Folliasson .

- Restoration of the “La Samaritaine” department store (Magasin No. 3) built in 1907 in Paris, together with Marie-Claude Rouault ; 2002
- “Wall of Peace” based on a design by the artist Clara Halter on the Champ de Mars (Marsfeld) in Paris; Inaugurated March 2000
- Restoration of the main shopping street Rue Sainte-Catherine in Bordeaux , one of the longest pedestrian zones in Europe; 2000 to 2003
- Participation in several buildings in the new Paris Rive Gauche (also Seine Rive Gauche ) district, including the Cité de l'Image et du Son ("City of Image and Sound", also called "MK2" = multi-complex, a multiplex cinema) ; together with Frédéric Namur , 2003) and the Avenue de France (together with Patrick Celeste , based on a design by Paul Andreu )
- Design of the above-ground stations for the Rouen tram
- Design of the information pillars at the Strasbourg tram stops
- Participation in the Tramway des Maréchaux Sud (tram line T3), Paris (together with Antoine Grumbach and Michel Desvignes ); 2006
- Conversion of the distillery of the Fernet-Branca spirits company in Saint-Louis near Basel, which was closed in 2000, into an exhibition space for contemporary art ( Espace d'Art Contemporain Fernet Branca ); around 2000
- Interior of the Museum of Islamic Art (collection of Islamic art) in Doha , the capital of Qatar , designed by the Chinese-American star architect Ieoh Ming Pei ; opened in March 2008
