Jean-Paul Didierlaurent (born March 2, 1962 in La Bresse , Département Vosges , France, † December 5, 2021 in Strasbourg ) was a French writer .

Life

Jean-Paul Didierlaurent came from La Bresse . He studied advertising in Nancy . After a brief stint in Paris , he returned to his home country to work for a telecommunications provider. He continued to live there. In 1997 he submitted two stories to a writing competition for the first time and won. Numerous other texts were also awarded prizes.

In 2014 he published his first novel, Le liseur du 6h27 ( Ger . And T. Die Sehnsucht des Vorleser , 2017). The French original edition has won several prizes and has sold over 265,000 times (as of March 2016). The German edition also made it onto the Spiegel bestseller list. The novel has so far been translated into 29 languages. The rights for a film have already been granted.

The volume of short stories Macadam was published in France in 2015, the German translation was published in 2017 (German and T. Macadam or Das Mädchen von Nr. 12 ). Didierlaurent's second novel Le Reste de leur vie was published in 2016.

He died on December 5, 2021 at the age of 59 from complications from cancer.
