Jean-Paul Paloméros (born August 13, 1953 in Paris ) is a former general in the French Air Force . In his last employment, he was Supreme Allied Commander Transformation from 2012 to 2015 . Previously, he held the post of Chief of Staff of the Air Force from 2009 to 2012.

Life

Jean-Paul Paloméros joined the air force in 1973 and completed an officer training and training as a jet pilot, which he completed in 1976. He flew the Dassault Mirage F1 and Dassault Mirage 2000 models in various seasons and had more than 3,500 flight hours. As a squadron captain , he led the squadron 2/12 in Cambrai , including 1987 in Chad during Operation Epervier, as a squad commodore of the 30 e  Escadre de chasse (fighter squadron) in Reims .

In 1993 Paloméros took part in a course for staff officers at the Royal Air Force Staff College in Bracknell , where he received the Curtis Prize. From 1996 to 1998 he was in command of the Cazaux military airfield (Base Aérienne 120), where a flight test center and various school units are stationed.

Assignments abroad

Paloméros was involved several times in various operations in the Balkans , first in 1993 as deputy commander of the French part of Operation Crecerelle at the Vicenza base in Italy , later in Operation Deny Flight and in 1995 in Bosnia-Herzegovina to coordinate the operations during Operation Deliberate Force .

Career as general

In 1998, Paloméros became head of the planning department in the Air Force Staff. In 2001 he was promoted to Général de brigade and appointed chairman of a working group that dealt with the further development of the air force. In 2002 he was appointed department head, responsible for planning and change programs. In 2005 he was initially Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force, from 2009 to 2012 he was finally Chief of Staff.

On August 6, 2012, the North Atlantic Council confirmed the appointment of Paloméros as Supreme Allied Commander Transformation , he finally took office on September 28, 2012 in Norfolk . In 2015 he retired.

Private

Paloméros is married and has five children.

Military awards

In 2009, Paloméros was awarded the Grand Officier de la Légion d'Honneur , as well as the Ordre national du Mérite and the Médaille de l'Aéronautique .
