Jean-Pierre Kalfon (born October 30, 1938 in Paris ) is a French actor .

Life

After a tumultuous youth, he was given the opportunity to study law or medicine, but opted for acting. He appeared in plays by Ibsen , Calderón and Chekhov and made his film debut in 1958.

From 1963 he was regularly in front of the camera, repeatedly in films of the Nouvelle Vague generation and in gangster films . He often embodied statuary, silent, cold criminals. In other subjects, however, he showed himself to be a sensitive and vulnerable personality. For his performances in The Owl's Scream and in The School of the Lost Girls , he was nominated for a César as best supporting actor in 1988 and 2001, respectively .

Occasionally Kalfon dedicated himself to music and appeared in 1973 in New York with Bob Marley .
