Jean-Pierre Leloir (born June 27, 1931 in Paris, † December 20, 2010 in Paris ) was a French photographer who primarily documented the music and theater sectors since the 1950s.

Leloir was given a camera immediately after the liberation of Paris. As a music fan, he decided against training in 1949. He created portraits of numerous artists, particularly in the 1950s and 1960s, but also took photos at concerts and rehearsals. Since 1951 he has worked for magazines such as Jazz Hot , Jazz Magazine or Rock & Folk , but also for daily newspapers and weekly magazines as well as various record labels. Photos of him illustrate more than 1000 sound carriers. In 1969 he managed to unite Jacques Brel , Georges Brassens and Léo Ferré for a photo session. In the last years of his career he published several illustrated books with his photos. A few months before his death, in January 2010, he was honored with the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres . Posthumously, 100 jazz albums with cover photos of him were reissued in a limited edition in the Leloir Project .
