Jean-René Germanier

Jean-René Germanier (born December 18, 1958 in Sion ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

In the 2003 elections he was elected to the National Council as representative of the canton of Valais . There he was a member of the Commission for Transport and Telecommunications. Germanier was elected President of the National Council for the 2010/2011 parliamentary year.

In the 2015 parliamentary elections , he was overtaken by his young party colleague Philippe Nantermod and thus lost his seat in the National Council.

Germanier is an oenologist and winemaker . He lives in Vétroz and has one child. In the Swiss Army he held the degree of corporal .
