Jean-Yves Jolif

Jean Jolif , religious name Yves , OP (born January 25, 1923 in Rennes , Département Ille-et-Vilaine , † July 5, 1979 in Lyon , Rhône) was a French Dominican and translator from ancient Greek .

He was ordained in the following order: Vestition for the Province of Lyon: September 8, 1942 in Angers; simple profession : September 9, 1942 in Angers; solemn profession: December 22, 1947 in Angers; Ordained priest : July 5, 1949.

As a theologian, he became a professor at the Université catholique de Lyon . Together with his brother René Antoine Gauthier , he edited the Nicomachean Ethics of Aristotle in a translation and a commentary of almost a thousand pages.
