Jean Grégoire Barthélemy Rouger de Laplane
Jean Grégoire Barthélemy Rouger de Laplane (born October 13, 1766 in Mourvilles-Hautes , † June 16, 1837 ibid) was a French general de division of the infantry .
Life
On May 3, 1782, at the age of 16, he joined the Gendarmes de la garde (→ Maison militaire du roi de France ). He was soon able to distinguish himself through bravery and became a supporter of Napoleon at an early age .
When he was planning his Italian campaign in 1796 , Rouger de Laplane was accepted into his staff. As such he fought u. a. at Montenotte (April 12, 1796), Dego (April 14/15, 1796) and at the Adda (April 25/27, 1797).
Rouger de Laplane was involved in the siege of Mantua (June 1796 / February 1797) under the leadership of Marshal Jean Sérurier . Two years later he was under the leadership of General François de Foissac again in front of Mantua (April / June 1799).
In 1798 Napoleon planned his campaign to Egypt and Rouger de Laplane again became a staff officer. In 1801 Rouger de Laplane returned to France.
Under the leadership of Marshal Joachim Murat , Rouger de Laplane fought in the war in Spain . In the rank of Général de brigade , he fought alongside General Pierre Dupont de l'Étang in front of Córdoba (June 8, 1808), Bailén (July 18/22, 1808) and Talavera (July 28, 1809). On July 18, 1812, Napoleon made him in command of the Glogau fortress in Silesia . On April 10, 1814, he capitulated to the Prussian besiegers.
Returning to France, Rouger de Laplane turned away from Napoleon and joined King Louis XVIII. on. On August 5, 1814, he took over military duties in the Tarn-en-Garonne department. He remained loyal to the Bourbons during the reign of the Hundred Days and after the Battle of Waterloo (June 18, 1815) .
When after the July Revolution of 1830 , the July Monarchy was constituted, it survived Rouger de LAPLANE without political damage. Officially adopted by King Louis-Philippe I , he was able to retire on May 1, 1832. Rouger de Laplane died on June 20, 1837 in his hometown, where he found his final resting place.
