Jean Graff (born September 24, 1964 in Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourg diplomat .

Life

He studied business administration at the University of Nancy and graduated with a master's degree.

In 1987 he joined the Luxembourg Ministry of Education. From 1989 to 1992 he worked as a legation attaché in the Department for European Affairs and International Economic Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1993 to 1995 he worked for the Permanent Representation of Luxembourg to the European Union in Brussels . He then went to New York City as Luxembourg Consul General in 1995 , where he stayed until 2001. At the same time he was director of the Luxembourg Trade & Investment Office.

In 2002 he became Luxembourg Ambassador to the Netherlands , based in The Hague . He was also a permanent representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons . In 2008 he returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and worked there until 2013 as Director of the Department for European Affairs and International Economic Relations. He was also a representative of the State of Luxembourg on the board of directors of the SNCI (National Company for Credit and Investment), the Luxair Group and the Office du Ducroire .

The next assignment abroad followed in 2013. Graff became the Luxembourg ambassador in Madrid , Spain and Andorra . In 2017 he moved to Germany as ambassador to the Luxembourg embassy in Berlin . The accreditation took place on September 20, 2017.

Personal

He is married and has two children. In addition to Luxembourgish , Graff speaks German , English , French , Dutch and Spanish .

Awards

He was awarded the Commander's Cross in the Order of Merit of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Grand Cross in the Order of Orange-Nassau of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
