Jean Kickx (Senior)

Jean Kickx (born March 9, 1775 in Brussels , † March 27, 1831 ibid) was a Flemish botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " J.Kickx ".

Live and act

He was professor of botany , pharmacy and mineralogy at the Medical School in Brussels and author of the work Flora bruxellensis , which was published in Brussels in 1812. His son was also named Jean Kickx , was like him a botanist and inherited him in several offices.

Honor taxon

The plant genus of the Tännelkräuter ( Kickxia ) is named after him.
