The Tännelkräuter ( Kickxia ), Swiss German snake mouth , form a genus of plants within the plantain family (Plantaginaceae).
description
Vegetative characteristics
The Fännelkraut species are annual to perennial , herbaceous plants . The creeping, prostrate or hanging stems are leafy and hairy, sometimes also glandular.
The alternate - only the lowermost sometimes constantly against - arranged leaves are divided into petiole and leaf blade. The hairy leaf blades are simple.
Generative characteristics
The long-stalked flowers are individually in leaf axils.
The hermaphrodite flowers are zygomorphic with a double flower envelope . The calyx is unequal to five lobes. The crown has a clear spur at the bottom. The lower lip closes the throat with a bulge ("mask flower"). There are four stamens .
With the two- compartment capsule fruits , each compartment opens with a lid.
Systematics and distribution
The genus Kickxia was established in 1827 by Barthélemy Charles Joseph Dumortier in Florula belgica, opera majoris prodromus, auctore ... , page 35. The generic name Kickxia honors the Belgian pharmacist Jean Kickx Senior (1775-1831). A synonym for Kickxia Dumort. is Elatinoides Wettst.
These species were previously placed in the genera toadflax ( Linaria ) or snapdragons ( Antirrhinum ). While they used to the family of Rachenblütler were asked (Scrophulariaceae), it is expected due to molecular biological findings on the prize plants (Veronicaceae) that the family of APG plantain plants are assigned (Plantaginaceae). The genus Kickxia belongs to the tribe Antirrhineae.
In Central Europe, only the two species of spear-leaved Fännelkraut ( Kickxia elatine ) and egg- leaved Fännelkraut ( Kickxia spuria ) occur. There are around five species in Europe, these are, in addition to the above-mentioned, Kickxia cirrhosa , Kickxia commutata and Kickxia lanigera .
There are about 25 types of Kickxia :
- Kickxia acerbiana (Boiss.) Täckh. & Boulos : It occurs in Egypt , Libya , Israel and Jordan .
- Kickxia aegyptiaca (Dumort.) Nábělek
- Kickxia caucasica (Spreng.) Kuprian.
- Kickxia cirrhosa (L.) Fritsch : It occurs in western and south- western Europe , in North Africa and Jordan.
-
Kickxia commutata (Rchb.) Fritsch : There are two subspecies:
- Kickxia commutata (Rchb.) Fritsch subsp. commutata : It is widespread from southern Europe through south-eastern Europe to Turkey .
- Kickxia commutata subsp. graeca (Bory & Chaub.) R. Fern. : It is widespread from Southeast Europe to the Middle East.
- Skewer-leaved Fännelkraut , also called Genuine Fännelkraut ( Kickxia elatine (L.) Dumort. )
- Kickxia floribunda (Boiss.) Täckh. & Boulos : It occurs in Egypt, the Sinai Peninsula , Israel and Jordan.
- Kickxia hastata (Benth.) Dandy
- Kickxia heterophylla (Schousb.) Dandy
- Kickxia judaica Danin : It occurs in the area of Israel and Jordan.
- Kickxia kneuckeri (Bornm.) Täckh. : Some authors put it on Kickxia acerbiana and was first described in Egypt.
- Kickxia lanigera (Desf.) Hand.-Mazz. : It is common in southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
- Kickxia macilenta (Decne.) Danin : It occurs on the Sinai Peninsula.
- Kickxia nubica (Skan) dandy
- Kickxia pendula (G.Kunkel) G.Kunkel : This endemic only occurs in Gran Canaria .
- Kickxia pseudoscoparia V.W.Sm. & DASutton : This rare species occurs in isolated areas in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
- Kickxia sagittata (Poir.) Rothm.
- Kickxia scariosepala Täckh. : This endemic occurs only on the Sinai Peninsula.
- Kickxia scoparia (Spreng.) G. Kunkel & Sunding
- Kickxia spartoides (Buchenau) Janch.
- Egg-leaved Fännelkraut , also called loggerhead ( Kickxia spuria (L.) Dumort. )
